Methodist missioneries from the United kingdom began the missionery activities in the 1860s and established congregation which resulted in building a relatively bigger church for the local people and dedicated it in 1861.At present there are 232 families worship in this church.Now this church is part of the Church of South India formed on 27th september 1947.Four major protestant denominations namely Anglican,Methodist,Congregational and Presbyterian have formed the united church called CSI(Church of south India)The CSI is spread in four south indian states of Tamilnadu,Kerala,Andhrapradesh and Karnataka including Jaffna of Srilanka.There are 22 dioceses in the CSI.Our church is in the diocese of Madras,Tamil nadu.
