International womens day -observed on 20th March

International womens day was observed at our Church which was sponserd by  CASA (Churche's auxcillary for social action).This NGO was started in 1947 under the banner of NCCI relief committee soon after the India's Independence in order to do relief work for Muslims and Hindus due to partition issues in the West bengal area whcih borders the erstwhile east Pakistan (Present Bangladesh) and the North Western part of india which borders erstwhile West Pakistan(Present Pakistan).In 1972 the NCCI (National council of Churches in India) in its general council permitted the NCCI relief committee to function Independantly as  CASA.This NGO aims to build just society and focus Christ way of approach in building the society where there will be equality and justice.The seminar began with the thoguht provoking speech of eminant scholar Prof.Sarasvathi.She has brought out the various factors which causes womens problem in India and the reason for the price raise and poverty .She chaallnged the participants the urgency of people's role in protectin the mother earth.
In the second session friends from "Citizens Right Forum" highlighted the problems faced by the slum dwellers in chennai due to the eviction order by the goernment for various developmental activities in the name of Clean chennai and bright future.They asked the "Singara chennai" at whose cost.Those slum dwellers are in their places for many a years and the eviction can't be justixcfied.Moreover the people who have already been evicyted has less acces to water and find difficult to reach city yto do their daily labour to meet their ends.The participants were shocked after their sharing and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the CRF whenever they need the general publics support to  voice for the affected slum dwellers in chennai.

After the lunch Mrs.Ruby James of Hawishcar India, chenglepet gave biblical thought in order to be alert in the society and also serve as an  instruement in bringing change in societyy and that could be achieved with the active involement of the women.Children from her home presented an awarness song  followed  by a dance.

Rev.Manova santhosham the presbyter- in -charge who  has organised the seminar thanked all the participants,resource persons and the CASA.


The theme for the seminar was "The climate change and the sufferings of Women".
